Prolific writer Gore Vidal dead at 86
AP: Gore Vidal, 86, died of complications from pneumonia in Los Angeles Tuesday evening, according to his nephew.
Vidal, an author and playwright, wrote “The City and the Pillar,” one of the first novels about openly gay characters. His play, “The Best Man,” was Tony-nominated.
